Just two weeks after winning the inaugural South Wales Senior Open at Southerndown Paul Bloomfield (Chippenham) has been selected for the Welsh side in the Seniors Home Internationals at Crail on 14-16th September.

Last week in the County match against Glamorgan, Paul Bloomfield was one of only three Wiltshire players to win his singles match. He played against Jeff Thomas who had been Paul's foursomes partner over three decades of playing in the Glamorgan first team. Paul was 4 under par when winning 4+2. Jeff was pleased to see Paul again last week but the pleasure must be wearing thin! Playing in the South Wales Senior Scratch Open at Southerndown on 25-26th July, strong winds forced the scores up but Paul was "in the zone". A 73 on the first day equalled the CSS and he went even better on day two with a 71, two better than the CSS. Reaching the 18th hole, Paul realised he had a 9 inch putt to win the Championship, by one stroke, from Jeff Thomas, and he duly holed out for a great win. Congratulations to Paul who beat a field including scratch golfers, a sprinkling of Welsh Internationals...and of course, his old mate Jeff.
