Seniors win SW Counties Matchplay Shield

Wiltshire's Seniors team secured a fine win in the annual round robin matchplay event played against Dorset, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Gloucester.
The format of the event is 4 foursomes matches against each other county played over a 3 day period, this year at Salisbury and South Wilts GC.
The course was in excellent condition and home advantage helped the team to remain unbeaten in their matches,  securing a half on the final match of the series, against Somerset to win the matchplay shield.

Needing to compete for 36 holes each day requires stamina and the intensive training that Captain, Henry Burt insisted upon clearly paid off. The picture shows the team of athletes with the matchplay shield undergoing a vigorous post event warm down of arm lifting exercises.
