Competing in the Seniors Championship for the first time Guy Piercy, from Marlborough had a great day at Tidworth Garrison GC, shooting a 2 over par 72 to win the Championship by a single shot. Playing in the penultimate group County Secretary, David Lewis (Marlborough), managed to bogie the last two holes to finish runner up on 73 and there was a three way tie for the other places with Nigel Phillips (Kingsdown), Dennis Johnson (West Wilts) and Mike Saunders (Tidworth) all finishing on 75. County Seniors Captain, Mike Saunders managed to hole some monster putts on his home course, scoring 5 birdies, but two double bogies in the last 4 holes cost him dear. 72 year old Dennis Johnson's level par back nine was too good for the others and secured him the third place prize.
Prizes were presented by County Deputy President Geoff Titt (West Wilts) and after accepting the Championship Trophy Guy thanked the Tidworth Club for providing such a great venue for the event and Nick Chapman and Geoff for the smooth running of the day.
