On a bright but breezy day at Cumberwell Park, County Vice Captain, Kev Phillips and partner Tom Burley held off all challengers to win the County Foursomes by 3 shots. Leading in the morning with a 2 over par 73 by 1 shot from local pair Andy Cooper and Paul Matthews and by 2 from Ben and Josh Loughrey, the winning pair consolidated their position in the afternoon with a fine score of level par 71 for a 144 total.
Eventually finishing second with 149, local hero Matt Swales and his partner Sam Matton fom Bowood produced the best round of the day in the afternoon with a 68 but had left themselves too much to do after being 10 shots higher in the morning.
Third place went to the Loughreys with 150, still kicking themselves after the 4 shot penalty from the morning round when Ben found the 15th club in his bag on the second hole!
The net prize was taken by Andy Cooper and Paul Matthews with consistent scores of 74, 75 gross, off a handicap of 2 finishing with 145.
A full list of scores can be found here.
The prizes were presented by County President, Malcolm Nixon and the picture shows the winners with the Foursomes Trophies.
