Wiltshire County Golf Union The opening hole at Kingsdown Golf Club

County Card for every Wiltshire Golfer

The AGM of the County Golf Union was held at Marlborough GC on 8th December and was well attended by 38 Council and club representatives from 17 of the Wiltshire clubs.
Ali James, Wiltshire Captain, reported on another successful season, winning the South West Championship for the third year running and reaching the English County Finals only to lose out to Essex on the last hole of the last match on the final day.
The Treasurer requested an increase in affiliation fees which was unanimously supported and the meeting voted to offset this increase by giving a County Card to every Wiltshire member. Cards will be issued in the New Year giving discounted golf across the country: it is hoped by the start of the playing season every English County will have signed up for the scheme.
The meeting endorsed Kevin Phillips (Broome Manor) as Captain for the 2010-11 seasons and supported his nomination of David Bauer (Marlborough) as his Vice Captain. David Hopkins (Upavon) was also introduced as the Captain of the 2nd Team.
