About Us

The Wiltshire County Golf Union (WCGU) was founded in 1924 and exists to represent amateur golfers in the County of Wiltshire and to promote the game of golf.

The WCGU is the effective link between the affiliated Wiltshire golf clubs and the English Golf Union.

The responsibilities of the Wiltshire Golf Union include: organising Championships andTournaments for Wiltshire golfers, developing golfing talent, selecting teams to represent Wiltshire in competitive matches against other counties, the application of the Unified Handicapping System, course rating and adjudication on the rules of golf.

Wiltshire was one of the first English counties to set up a golf partnership to work on developing the game at grass roots level. The Wiltshire Golf Partnership, is supported and funded by the Wiltshire Golf Union, the Wiltshire Ladies Golf Union and the Wiltshire Proffesional Golfers Association and also receives grants to support it's activities from the EGU and Sport England. The activities of the Wiltshire Golf Partnership are described in detail here.
