In beautiful spring weather but with tricky early season greens scoring was high for the County Foursomes Championship but some fantastic golf from two pairings ensured a thrilling finish. The experienced pair from Salisbury, Albert Mutch and Andy Hankin led after the morning with a 73 followed closely by two pairs playing together, Dave Hopkins from Upavon playing with Garry Slade from the home club and Jordan Smith and Callum Brown from Bowood with 74's.
The afternoon lead was extended by Albert and Andy, 3 under par for the first 6 holes but three successive bogies followed while Jordan and Callum went to through the turn 2 under par. A double bogie up the tricky 14th hole though pegged back the chances of the younger pair who eventually finished an agonising single shot behind the winning pair. Unable to sustain their challenge, David Hopkins and Garry Slade finished with a 76 for 3rd place.
The Nett prize was taken by Chris Stewart and Craig Neve on 148, on countback from two other pairings.
