Wiltshire golf courses were traditionally built on fine downland turf with far reaching views over the areas of outstanding natural beauty that make up the Wiltshire countryside.
The EGU has recognised the quality of these established clubs by holding several National events in the County.
Most recently, in 2008, High Post held the English Boys U16 Championship (the MacGregor Trophy) . The picture shows a competitor driving off at the 16th.
As the game expanded championship courses have been developed and compare with the best in the country with modern USGA specification greens and features.

Perhaps the best way for club members to enjoy golf in the County is through the purchase of a County Card that gives discounted green fees at all of Wiltshire's clubs and hundreds of others around the UK. Details of the County Card scheme can be found here.
